This is
part of an 11-year commitment to quality that began in 1998 with the Continuous
Improvement Model, ISO and now CMMI
On July 24,
2009 S & D achieved CMMI Level 3 accreditation according to the SEI of
Carnegie Mellon University
The ability
to learn from past experiences and incorporate those experiences to improve
continuously, realistic estimates, detecting and correcting deviations in time,
risk management, involved people, informed decisions, identifying the needs of
our customers, management of requirements, interfaces, risks, costs, time,
resources, etc., are factors that determine the maturity and negatively or
positively affect the probability of success of a company when facing
challenges.
Having been
assessed as a CMMI organization means that in addition of reaching level 2,
which is to achieve a level of maturity in project management, we have also
incorporated level 3 practices, adopting advanced management methods, applied
software engineering techniques and standardized its application through
defined processes in all our development projects.
This
assessment is one of the highest international standards for software
development, required by the most demanding organizations both from the public
and the private sector to select suppliers or ensure the quality of their
projects.
So far the
experience has been extremely gratifying; we have learned to overcome barriers
and prejudices, for example, that the model would add bureaucracy or that is
meant for large enterprises. Since we started, we had the idea of keeping it
simple, rely on tools, convinced that it was the best way to do it.
The
assessment means that we have the processes, tools and trained people so that
we can provide the confidence needed to collaborate with our customers to
fulfill their expectations, that we can incorporate new ways of working and that
new requirements are tailored to the customer’s needs.
